Sandra Lea Dickenson, AIA Emeritus, has been a licensed architect since 1972, when women made up less than 2% of the profession. She has practiced in six states and Germany and is now retired. Sandy holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Oklahoma and is a lifelong Sooner fan. She and her military husband came to Vermillion, S.D., in 1989, choosing to stay to raise their three girls when Ross retired. Sandy is involved in AIA South Dakota, community committees, and Vermillion Community Theatre. She is a past president and a former member of the AIA Strategic Council, as well as a Legacy Award honoree. Sandy loves to travel and has visited all 50 states plus more than 30 countries.
