Arlt, Kramer recognized as Young Architect Award winners

AIA South Dakota is awarding South Dakota architects Robert Arlt, AIA, CPHC, and Chase Kramer, AIA, NCARB, LEED GA each with the chapter’s Young Architect Award for their leadership, service and contributions to the architecture profession and the community as a whole.

Arlt and Kramer will be honored during the AIA South Dakota Design Awards Ceremony and Dinner, on Thursday, Sept. 16, 2021 at the Ramkota Hotel and Convention Center in Sioux Falls.
 
Arlt is a practicing architect and a former lecturer at the South Dakota State University Department of Architecture (DoArch), where he taught from 2014 to 2021. Projects designed and built through Arlt’s instruction and professional office, RAd Architect, have received regional and national recognition through publication in architectural journals, online design magazines. He previously served on the Mitchell Historic Preservation Commission and currently serves on the AIA South Dakota Board of Directors. Arlt earned his Master’s of Architecture and his Bachelor of Science in Environmental Design at North Dakota State University. Additionally, he studied at Santa Reparata International School of Art in Florence, Italy.
 
Kramer is a project architect at TSP, Inc, in Sioux Falls. He is the current guest member on the TSP Board of Directors and was a longtime member of the firm’s Innovation Team. A graduate of Leadership Sioux Falls, Kramer has been honored by Augustana University as a “40 Under 40” alumnus and he was named a “40 Under 40” professional to watch by Prairie Business magazine. Kramer sits on the boards of AIA South Dakota, the Sioux Falls Arts Council and the Washington Pavilion Visual Arts Center, where he is currently board chair. He also is an accomplished musician who sings Bass II with the South Dakota Symphony Chorus and in the local diocesan cathedral’s renaissance polyphony choir. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in from Augustana College (now University) with an emphasis in Pre-Architecture and minors in Psychology and Economics. He received his Master of Architecture from Iowa State University.
