Puetz Design + Build is a 69 year old family owned business. Our Full-Circle Team Approach allows our architectural team and our construction team to work together to create beautiful new buildings and renovate existing structures. Our design department is made up of 2 licensed Architects, 1 Architecture Projects Coordinator, 1 Computer Aided Drafting Designer (CADD), and 2 Interior Designers.

What type of projects does your organization focus on?

We design and construct a wide variety of commercial projects. Business, education, healthcare, and hospitality are a few of our main sectors. We have designed, managed, or constructed over 80 school projects over the years.

DWU’s School of Business is a multi-story higher education facility. Staff offices, lecture halls, flexible classrooms, and a large community room flank an impressive central lobby space with a stone feature wall.

Location: Mitchell, SD
Mitchell Telecom is a modern, eye-catching office space on Mitchell’s main street with a warehouse attached. Client-centered office space and conference rooms blend seamlessly with efficient and functional workspace, an operations center, and the warehouse.

Name: ELO CPAs & Advisors
Location: Sioux Falls, SD
ELO completed a complete renovation of their 15,000 sf office building in 2020. The office provides an inviting and welcoming experience for clients and efficient workspace for the ELO team with some room to grow.

Describe the culture of your firm/organization.

The buildings we use every day matter. We experience emotional moments, accomplish big dreams, and face challenges head-on within their walls. We design buildings that do all these things. But we also build relationships. When we strive to create relationships alongside creating buildings, trust develops. And if we can develop trust, the process with our clients becomes easier.

Describe the history of your firm/organization.

From the company’s inception in 1952, Clarence Puetz, founder of Puetz Design+Build, carried a high sense of value for people and the relationships that were formed along the way. Over 65 years and three generations later, we still hold the value of people and relationships at the highest level of importance.

Puetz Design+Build believes it is imperative to continually maintain a strong sense of values in today’s world and share those values with our customers. As a result, Puetz Design+Build has moved to utilize a Full Circle Team Approach in all phases of design and construction.

What makes your firm/organization unique?

Puetz Design+Build’s full team design approach integrates team members from the entire architecture department as well as estimators, project managers, and superintendents from our construction management division of our company or another company. This is something that differentiates our firm. This gives our architecture team and the client a full project perspective including the pricing and constructability of the design. Our estimators that routinely work with contractors that are active in the bid market give our design staff insights into project costs that factor in regional and seasonal market fluctuations.
